As a Fabrication Assistant I worked in the production of the pieces for Stratum. I was involved on the design of the technical aspects of the project and the crafting of the objects.
Inspired by geological stratification, the sculptural 18m-long multifunctional element invigorates the entrance area of the new office building of a pioneering online food shopping company in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Transforming 880 kg of plastic waste into a new type of “stone”, the project simulates rock formations through a sophisticated layer-to-layer 3D sculpture technique.
This specific piece installed in PicNic headquarters in Utrecht, was designed pushing off the design brief of DENC architects, who were in charge of the building’s entrance interior design.

The New Raw is a research and design studio based in
Rotterdam (Netherlands) founded in 2015 by architects Panos Sakkas and Foteini Setaki with the ambition to give new life to discarded materials through design, robots and craftsmanship.
The New Raw develops its own (digital) craftsmanship techniques through a formal and technical language that highlights the texture and the layer-by-layer character of its in-house robotic manufacturing process. The exploration of the possibilities that the robotic techniques provide transform
plastic waste into beautiful and meaningful products that are 100% circular.
